Positive ageing award finalists

Gawler Art Society has been presented with the Every Generation Creative Arts finalist award.

The award is for recognition of an exceptional group that has made an ongoing contribution to the cultural life of South Australia through involvement in the arts.

Carol Green, from the Gawler Art Society said, “I think being one of the two finalists is a great achievement for the art society and hopefully we can win the award for Gawler and the Barossa on  October 30.”

COTA SA, the state’s peak seniors’ organisation, is holding its annual Every Generation Festival for the duration of October, which incorporates the prestigious Positive Ageing Awards.

The awards recognise and honour South Australian individuals and organisations that exemplify positive ageing and challenge the stereotypes of ageing in our society.

The 2012 finalists have been chosen by the judging panel, and attended the State Launch of the Every Generation Festival on October 2 at Government House.

Finalists were presented with their finalists’ certificates by His Excellency, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, Governor of South Australia. The 2012 Every Generation Festival Awards Finalists come from across the State and are representative of both metropolitan and rural communities.

The finalist awards dinner is to be held on Tuesday, October 30 in Adelaide.
