The Barossa Dog House team is the Barossa’s entrant in this year’s West End Mighty River Run to be held from November 19 to 23.
Team members, Paul Healy, Mick Page, Toby Yap, John Hughes and Kym Teusner are looking forward to the challenge of the Mighty River Run travelling with a 40-boat flotilla on the River Murray from Blanchetown to Renmark.
The event raises money for Novita Children’s Services that supports over 2000 children and young people with disabilities in South Australia.
The Barossa Dog House team have one thing in common - the passion to help children with disabilities but Paul and John both have a very close relationship with Novita.
Paul and his wife, Lyn have a son, Brodie with cerebral palsy and rely on the services of Novita to assist their son through daily life. John is testimony to the great services of Novita. He attended Novita 30 years ago. He has led a mainstream life and has pursued his dream of becoming a wine maker and a great cook as seen on Master Chef. Many families in the Barossa utilise the important services of Novita.
This year the West End Mighty River Run funds raised will support a new hydrotherapy pool and intensive rehabilitation complex at Novita’s Regency Park site.
Prior to the Mighty River Run, a gala fundraising dinner will be held at Vintners Bar and Grill on Friday, October 26. Tickets are $100 each and include a three-course dinner with premium wines. For tickets, please contact Tracy Page 0410 639 074.
To date, the team has raised $11,749.80 plus $10,000 was generously donated by major sponsor Teusner Wines recently. The boys said they have been overwhelmed by the generosity of locals supporting their cause.
They would like to mention their supporting businesses Stiller Coopers, Hahn Corporation, Lynas Auto Group, Dandelion Vineyards, Rieslingfreak, Tomfoolery, Barossa Bottling Services. The Farm Barossa Function Centre, Vintners Bar & Grill, The Club House, Swan Reach Tyres and Chooks Custom Grafix are also sponsoring the team.
