COLLEGIANS is one of two teams undefeated in Premier after it hammered Old Trinity by 41 points at Sportscover Arena yesterday.
It won without seven senior players, including former VFL forward Nick Sautner.
The Lions have looked more powerful this year. Co-coach Mark Hibbins said the club had employed former Melbourne midfielder Paul O'Brien to handle its fitness.
''He took the pre-season and he concentrated on running and core strength,'' Hibbins said.
Chris Blumfield kicked five goals and Shura Taft four, taking his tally to 20 goals after five rounds.
The St Bedes Tigers are also yet to drop a match, defeating Old Xaverians for a third time at their Mentone home since being promoted to the grade in 2008.
Premier B club Hampton Rovers started umpire-appreciation day with its seven VAFA-appointed umpires being applauded at the club's pre-game luncheon. But the atmosphere turned after the umpires sent off and reported three Rovers. The crowd became ''livid'' according to Rover president Jim Westhead, who said he would seek a video-feedback meeting with umpires manager Brian Goodman.
Rovers lost the match by 44 points.
■The VAFA will underwrite $1.5 million in renovations at Sportscover Arena (Elsternwick Park), including getting a consultant to suggest ways to reduce the ground's wind channel, which is particularly prevalent in spring.
