Baz and Sue Ward from Sandy Creek had their engines roaring at Saturday’s Tractor Pull on the Ahrens property at Kingsford Estate.
Baz was named South Australian champion of the Limited Modified class with two wins and a third.
Sue had an easier time, winning all three events in her Busy Bee in the Two-Wheeled Commercial section.
Her main opposition had blown up their vehicle at a recent Tractor Pull in Victoria and couldn’t get it fixed in time for the SA event.
“While it was good for Sue to have a walkover it helped built her points lead for the season,” Baz said.
“I had two wins and a third with my tractor Rumpus which was good enough to win the SA title.”
There is no time for a break for the Wards as they will be heading to Finley in New South Wales on Saturday week for the NSW Tractor Pull.
Saturday was the third straight year of the Tractor Pull in the Gawler and Light region.
After initially holding the event at the now defunct Gawler harness racing track in 2008, the Tractor Pull was held at the Kapunda harness track last year.
However damage to the inner oval area forced organisers to move to the Kingsford Estate this year and they hope it may become the permanent home.
The Tractor Pull is run by two Rotary clubs - Gawler as well as Gawler and Light - and all proceeds go to charity.
