Sandy Creek Cockatoos run continues

17 Mar, 2010 11:20 AM
The Sandy Creek A1 cricket team continues to take all before them.

In their debut season in the Barossa and Light competition the Cockatoos must now be the favourites to take the two-day title to match the one-day shield they won earlier in the season.

On Saturday the Cockys beat Angaston comprehensively.

Batting first they compiled a handy 8/224 then bowled Angaston out for just 47 with Brandon Kurtz (17) the only player to reach double figures.

Sandy Creek captain Corey Roberts sent Angaston back to the crease in an attempt to snare an outright win but fell just short as Angaston held on to score 8-157.

The next challenge for Sandy Creek will be facing a fired-up Tanunda in a semi-final at Kapunda this weekend.

The Magpies will be keen to make amends for their loss to last-placed Freeling in the final minor round game.

Look for Pies captain Boh Wall to come out and make a statement with the bat after managing just three runs against the Redlegs.

This week’s A grade semis are Sandy Creek v Tanunda at Kapunda and Nuriootpa v Gawler Central at Tanunda.
