One of the world’s most prestigious and influential independent wine competitions, the International Wine Challenge, has unveiled a selection of Barossa wines among the 2009 trophy awards.
Barossa labels claimed six of the record 122 wines
Pirathon by Kalleske Shiraz 2007, made by brothers Troy and Tony Kalleske of Kalleske Wines, was awarded the Trophy for Australia’s Best Shiraz and also the Trophy for the Barossa’s Best Shiraz.
They Kalleske brothers were delighted to receive such an award for just the third release of this wine.
The single-vineyard Pewsey Vale Eden Valley Riesling 2008 was awarded the Trophy for Best Eden Valley Wine and Best Eden Valley Riesling.
This double trophy win guarantees a place in the final tasting for the IWC International Riesling Trophy, announced in September 2009.
Pewsey Vale’s distinctive Rieslings have already notched an impressive track record on the domestic and International wine show circuits.
