The Angaston Show Society calls on young and enthusiastic Barossa people to help make the annual show a success.
The committee has launched a new initiative - the Young Farmer Challenge, to coincide with the Australian Year of the Farmer.
To be part of the event, entrants need to live in the Barossa Valley, have some kind of involvement in farming, be a current member of a sporting club or charitable organisation, and enjoy a challenge.
If you fit this criteria then you also have a chance to win money for your club or organisation.
Entries are now open for the 2012 Young Farmer Challenge, to be staged at the Angaston Show from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, February 26.
Teams will comprise three participants aged between 18 and 35, who are invited to put their technical skills and knowledge to the test in the action packed event.
The competition involves skills-based challenges, some related to farming, with a strong emphasis on technique, safety and fun.
Events may include anything from rolling up a swag, stacking hay bales or using a sack truck.
While some of the challenges have a focus on agriculture and farming, there is no prerequisite to be involved in farming and any one from the public who is a
member of a sporting club or charitable organisation is encouraged to enter.
The winning team will walk away with a share of the loot for their club, with no prize money paid to individuals.
If the Young Farmer Challenge sounds like fun, then enter by emailing your interest to secretary@angastonshow.org.au or phone 8564 2880. Entries for the challenge close Friday, February 24 at 5pm.
