Life could be described as a ‘bed of roses’ for Kapunda artist Jacqueline Coates.
Earlier this month, Jacqueline’s signature floral paintings were featured as part of the release of Estee Lauder’s latest fragrance in Sydney.
She was also interviewed by special guest, television personality Catriona Rowntree about her painting inspiration and love of blooms.
Jacqueline explained the interview took place in front of national beauty editors at an exclusive breakfast.
It was Sydney event manager Eddie Yacoubian and Estee Lauder communications manager Alice Hocking who were keen to feature Jacqueline and her works for the launch.
They tracked Jacqueline down for her peony paintings and invited her to help celebrate the launch of the new addition to the Blooms fragrance range - the key ingredient was the peony rose.
Jacqueline moved to Kapunda from Sydney nine years ago to become a full time artist and raise her two children Hannibal and Lily. She also opened her Salon Rouge Gallery in the town in 2008, which shows interstate and regional artists and houses her painting studio.
“Peonies are a special rose variety originating in the Himalayas,” Jacqueline explained.
“They flush for only two weeks of the year - their brevity making them even more desirable.”
“They are supposed to be lucky, and I paint them because they are so beautiful,” she added.
Beauty editors were each given a commissioned peony etching by Jacqueline along with Estee Lauder fragrance and a bunch of flowers. Models also wore specially created rose inspired millinery by Nerida Winter.
While in Sydney, Jacqueline was treated to a makeup session applied by an Estee Lauder makeup artist. “It was lots of fun, femininity and frippery.
“Lovely to discard the painting apron and be glamorous for a few days.
“Who doesn’t love being treated like a princess,” she added.
