Safety will be improved as two acceleration lanes are added to the Sturt Highway at Nuriootpa.
Work began in late January on a 550 metre eastbound lane at the junction of Belvidere Road and the highway.
Another westbound lane is being installed at the junction of Murray Street and the highway.
The $1.1million improvements will improve transport efficiency and safety between Adelaide and the Riverland.
In addition, the Department of Transport and Energy and Infrastructure has enhanced the interchange ramp, off Greenock Road, as part of the Sturt Highway grade
The ramp is expected to be completed today (Wednesday).
In other news, heavy vehicles operators will be expected to keep to speeds under the new Heavy Vehicle Speeding Compliance Laws.
They are designed to prevent fewer lives lost on the roads.
The changes affect anyone who uses, manages or operates heavy vehicles.
It means transport businesses need to review and, if necessary, implement changes to prevent speeding.
New laws apply to heavy vehicles, including buses, with a gross vehicle mass of more than four and half tonnes.
