Barossa vintage declared

23 Feb, 2010 04:53 PM
The grapes have been blessed and the Barons of Barossa have declared the 2010 vintage will be high quality.

On Sunday, Pastor David Gogoll led a special Barossa church service and the Barons provided a colourful procession along Murray Street, Tanunda.

Louisa Rose presented an enthusiastic forecast on the 2010 vintage.

“The Barossa experienced the best rains in five years in late winter and spring which were very welcome,” she said.

“Early 2010 with mild ripening conditions and cool nights meant that vintage started only slightly earlier than average, but the healthy vines, generally below average crops and the warmer weather we are now experiencing is bringing it on very quickly.”

The highly anticipated announcement of the 2010 Barons of Barossa winemaker and vigneron of the year awards were made to Wayne Dutschke (winemaker) and Robert Seelander (vigneron).
