Barossa carpenters, electricians and plumbers could be contracted to help build the Barossa Aquatic and Fitness Centre.
Mayor Brian Hurn said the Baorssa Council wanted to see local companies bid for sub-contract jobs as part of construction of the $13.5million Tanunda facility.
Work is expected to begin within weeks.
Mayor Hurn said there would be great satisfaction to see the centre physically take shape.
“To finally see works on the site signals that 15 years of careful deliberation and consultation have come to fruition,” he said.
“I’m sure that all residents will watch the transformation at Magnolia Road with interest.
“This is a prestigious project to be associated with and we hope Barossa companies with a track record of excellence will seek to secure a contract.”
Candetti Constructions has been appointed to manage the project and will seek expressions of interest from sub-contractors in a diverse range of project areas.
“We openly invite all related local companies and tradespeople to bid for the diverse areas of sub-contract work required,” said Alex Candetti, executive chairman of Candetti Constructions.
“When completed, the Barossa Aquatic and Fitness Centre will be the most advanced, community-focussed facilities of its type in South Australia.”
Expressions of interest close on Wednesday, March 10.

The new centre will incorporate a 25-metre lap pool, leisure pool, multi-purpose pool, three sports courts and a health and fitness facility.
The project recently attracted $150,000 funding through the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program, and a further $30,000 through the Department of Planning and Local Government to plan the surrounding open space.
