Barossa ambassadors required

23 Feb, 2010 05:05 PM
When the 2011 Vintage Festival arrives, 12 young people will have the chance to embrace the Barossa.

By nominating for the Barossa Young Ambassador Program, people aged 18-25 will have a chance to step up, get involved and have a great time.

Previous participants regularly report about how much extra they found out about the Barossa - and how much more they realised the region had to offer them.

Toby Yap, who participated in the 2005 program, gained a greater understanding of “our special region and its culture”.

The Langmeil Winery regional sales manager said the program influenced his life in a variety of ways.

“From increasing my confidence and maturity as a young professional - to providing me with an abundance of networking opportunities and platforms to launch not only my career but also extra-curricular community involvement in the region.”

Toby said the opportunity to be immersed in the festival and participate in a wide variety of events should not be missed.

He still has talks up his favourite Vintage Festival moment.

“Seeing Tim Freedman - of Whitlam’s fame - playing at Rockford Winery, nestled with a small piano on top of the open fermenters was a night I will never forget,” Toby said.

“The Barossa Young Ambassador can be a life changing experience, no matter what your future goals and aspirations are.

“My advice would be prepared to devote and immerse yourself in the program as I believe you only get out what you put in.”
