Two years on and the Kidman Art Show has again been recognised as Community Event of the Year for the Light Regional Council.
According to organisers, the Rotary Club of Kapunda, part of the reason for the biennial event’s success lies in the planning efforts.
Rotary members believe if you fail to plan then you plan to fail.
Their plan has helped them to secure about $16,500 through corporate and individual sponsorship to produce and foster a quality art show.
Another reason for the art show’s success is the rotary club is now supported by members of the Kapunda Community Art Gallery.
Under the guidance of the rotary club, the Kapunda groups work to produce a competition style art show, which attracts about 350 works both locally and throughout Australia.
During the 2011 art show about 1000 visitors and locals were estimated to have attended the opening night and check out the works displayed over a seven-day period in Kapunda.
The interest shown meant local businesses were kept busy supplying food, fuel and accommodation.
In addition, the event raised funds of about $8000 which will support worthwhile projects for local and international Rotary Programs and part proceeds were given to the Kapunda Community Art Gallery.
