The 35th Kapunda Celtic Festival kicks off on the weekend of October 15, 16 and 17.
It will again mean great bands to keep your toes tapping and great performers in the town’s main street.
The Kapunda Celtic Festival is the longest running Celtic event in Australia. It began in 1976 and was formed in response to the enthusiastic St Patrick’s Day celebrations held by the Kapunda community each year.
The festival celebrates the cultural heritage of the seven Celtic groups, the Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, Manx Bretons and Galicians, although most of the Kapunda immigrants were Irish, Welsh and Cornish.
The original festival in 1976 focused on free entertainment, with dancing, competitions, sports and bands.
It was traditionally staged in and around the main street of Kapunda as the rich heritage of the building facades were used as a backdrop to performances.
The event will be officially opened on the Saturday at 10.45am by Kapunda author Rosanne Hawke, who is also a Bard of Cornwall.
On Sunday at 1.30pm a huge street parade will head down the main street.
Also, there will be food, stalls, refreshments, plus dancing displays, a singing competition and loads more.
Entry is free and for more details, contact Andrew Phillpott on 0417 817 566 or Google 35th Kapunda Celtic.
